An entire week of events dedicated to the National Bioeconomy Day

On May 23, 2019, the National Bioeconomy Day was established, coordinated and promoted by the Cluster SPRING together with Assobiotec. The day includes the alternation of events, initiatives and events in different cities throughout the national territory, in order to talk about bioeconomy and circular economy sector to different target.

The H2020 projects BIOVOICES, Biobriges and LIFT and European Bioeconomy Network will participate with an entire week of events organized to celebrate the National Bioeconomy Day.

On May 20th we will be in Rome to support the Startupper School Academy, to award the best Bioeconomy business idea from high school students. This prize aims to sensitize students towards more sustainable economic model that uses renewable resources. The special “Bioeconomy” prize will be awarded to the school that realized the best project proposal and will receive a prize of 1,500 euros, made available by Novamont and 3 Vivichem kits, the Novamont educational support, which allows students to reproduce modern biorefinery in a box, through the description of renewables raw materials and processes leading to the production of bioproducts and biopolymers. In addition the awarded students will be invited at the BIOECONOMY Village, that BIOVOICES will organized during the European researchers’ night in Frascati and at Maker Faire 2019 in Rome, to showcase their project idea to the general public. The winning students will also be invited to present their project during an European event in autumn. BIOVOICES project and Lazio Innova will cover travel costs.

On May 23 BIOVOICES and Biobridges will be in Mantua with the event “The bioeconomy as territorial regeneration” organized by Cluster SPRING, Assobiotec-Federchimica, Municipality of Mantova, Confagricoltura. Chiara Pocaterra (APRE), coordinator of the BIOVOICES project and partner of the Biobriges project, will make an intervention on how to promote the bio-based economy through the involvement of stakeholders: consumers, politics, industry and research.

On May 24th we will be in Frascati in the context of the XIII edition of GNE2019, the annual award of Giornalisti Nell’Erba this year is related to environmental protection. The day, which will be held in the historic center of Frascati on 24 May, will be an event of the Festival dello Sviluppo Sostenibile (part of the European Sustainable Development week) and the launch event for the European Researchers’ Night 2019 by Frascati Scienza. The winner of the special “Bioeconomy” prize Startupper School Academy will receive a special mention during the event. The Bio Art Gallery created by BIOVOICES and Biobriges projects will also be exhibited, as a new way to present bio-based products and applications to the public through several examples: cosmetics, nutraceuticals, tissues, toys and sports, tableware, cleaning products and gadgets.

Finally on the 24th May 2019 in Trieste BIOVOICES and Biobridges are organizing an interregional workshop on how the bioeconomy can boost the regional development, with a focus on the wood value chain. The workshop aims to identify opportunities offered by the Bioeconomy, with a particular emphasis on its bio-based component, for the interregional development of Italy, Slovenia and Croatia. The discussion, the exchange of ideas and best practices will contribute to the elaboration of practical recommendations that will feed the dialogue between the main actors of this field at European level.
